Meet the Trotters

Meet Jon

Jon Trotter was born in Wichita, Kansas. He and his siblings grew up in and out of the child welfare system. After several stays at the Wichita Children’s Home, Jon was eventually placed in foster care in the small farming community of Downs, Kansas. It was there that he was instilled with family values, a strong work ethic, and deep faith.

Jon aged out of the foster care system and went on to graduate from Washburn University  in Topeka, Kansas with a Bachelor degree in Legal Studies. In 2017, Jon earned his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law. On September 29, 2017, Jon was sworn in by the Kansas Bar as the first attorney in his family’s history. Jon is also a Judge Advocate in the United States Army Reserve.

During college, he learned the value of mentorship, leadership, and public service. He has gained experience from internships and jobs in the Kansas Legislature and the United States House and Senate. Jon is a dedicated attorney who wants to help marginalized youth refuse to be defined by their circumstances and to do great things. Education was Jon’s ticket out of the deep woes of a broken system.

Today, Jon and his wife Amy live in Bremerton, Washington. They have a son named Jet. They continue to advocate for foster youth and hope to improve the outcomes for those in foster care around the country.
